We all play video games and we also have favorites as well. Old, new, obsolete, unknown....you name it. This topic focuses on YOUR Top 10 games for ANY console/handheld. Not just one person. But all of you. :D

So let's begin.

FlamePrincess' Top 10 Games:

10. Kirby and The Amazing Mirror (Gameboy Advance)
I used to play this game ALL the time before it got damaged. I mean, I love Kirby. KTAM was the second Kirby game I played (first on a handheld, second overall) and I just loved it. The graphics were typical/made for a handheld. (Like all Kirby games. I mean, I actually wouldn't buy a 3D Kirby game even if someone was forcing me to.) Storyline was really good as well. Good bosses, good levels, awesome abilities...yeah. Then again, this is my opinion.)

9. Kirby Air Ride (Nintendo Gamecube)
My first Kirby game ever. While I was impressed with KTAM...this one wasn't as awesome. (I mean, yeah, it's a racing game with 3 modes and you can ride different vehicles.) BUT, it also has awesome mini games. (I actually played more of the mini games than the actual modes, haha.) What else? Abilities. Besides riding around on a vehicle, you can actually kick your opponents' butt. (I mean, what purpose would any Kirby game serve if you don't have abilities? That would just suck.)
Again, minigames are fun. (:

8. Sonic Adventure 2: Battle (Nintendo Gamecube)
I used to be a huge Sonic fan. Until it came out on the Wii. Then I stopped playing it altogether. I still play SA2:B when I get the chance. I mean, it's a great game. Has Sonic, Amy, Tails, Robotnik, Knuckles and the ever so adorable Chao. Graphics? Typical for a Sonic console game......Controls? They're good. Easier once you get used to them. Storyline? On par. There were a few moments in the game that were boring (Aquatic Mine). Gameplay? On par again. Most of them are pretty straightforward and others were pretty challenging. Even on Hard Mode. (I forgot to mention boring. Aquatic Mine.) Oh yeah, you have missions. Like in its predecessor, Sonic Adventure. But they go in order...whenever you complete the stage the first time. Minigames? Well...actually, the only "mini game" on SA2B is the Kart Race and 2P mode. (Chao Garden has a different lingo. It has mini games of its own. Hint, hint) Oh, and Tails reverted back to being Sonic's sidekick again since in SA. Just to let you know.

7. Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness
Pokemon Stadium is back and better than ever.....I never played the game. PS1 nor PS2. Yeah, it's another standard Pokemon game. Catch Pokemon. Kick bad guys butts. Miror B.  It's bascially the sequel to Pokemon Colosseum. It is. If you played Pokemon Colosseum, then this game is the same thing. Except different characters. Mt. Battle is still there. So is that hot guy in Phenac City. WHAT HAPPENED TO PHENAC CITY?! WHAT HAPPENED TO THE STAAAADDDDIIIUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM? It's empty. You have your first intense battle there. (Well, in my case it was.) Good game, good plotline, good gameplay....I hate purifying Pokemon....that's the only bad part. Oh! Unlike PC, you can actually evolve Eevee. (You start off with Eevee instead of Umbreon and Espeon.) Team Cipher and Snagem are still there. Except Snagem went incognito. But they're still bad.....yeah. Good game over all.

6. Super Mario Galaxy
5. Pokemon Gold
4. Sonic Heroes
3. Kirby Squeak Squad
2. Super Mario Sunshine
1. Super Mario 64

Well there goes two hours of writing down the drain.

Anyways,

10. Katamari Damacy

9. Disgaea: Hour of Darkness

8. LoZ Majora's Mask

7. Super Mario World

6. Mario Kart 64

5. Super Mario 64

4. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

3. Phantasy Star Online Episode I and II

2. Pokemon Red

1. Slaves to Armok: God of Blood: Chapter II: Dwarf Fortress

Top choice is self-explanitory, really. The massive difficuly curve. The most complex procedurely generated game ever made. The development, which is still ongoing after 6 years, and planned for at least 20 years more. The infinite things you can do with the game, up to and including building a functional (simple) computer out of water, wood, and rocks. The community, with their interesting quirks and amazing stories. The ability to flood the world with lava and burn all those who dare defy your dwarven might.
All these things make up Dwarf Fortress, the single greatest game ever (and still being) made. And all with simple ASCII graphics. I guess graphics really AREN'T important after all. The image below sums it up, really.
Did I mention it's free?

Spoiler

Honorable Mentions (I have way too many...)

Spoiler

#4 The No More Hero

The No More Hero

Posted 12 September 2012 - 08:06 PM

Number 10 - Team Fortress 2
Team Fortress 2 is extremely quirky and unique, and it has that really fun mood that some other games of its genre lack. The nine classes are all unique and play very differently, my favorite being the Scout. The graphics are wonderful, too. It looks sort of like a Pixar film... except, you know, with blood everywhere. The numerous weapons are a great way to adapt to different playstyles. Without a doubt, my favorite FPS ever.

Number 9 - Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games
In my honest opinion, one of the greatest sports games out there. A fairly large amount of characters, fun events (except Curling), and plenty of unlockables for your Mii makes this game one of my favorites. However, it's reaaaaally tedious with Festival mode. Completely unneeded.

Number 8 - Kirby and the Amazing Mirror
I have not played alot of Kirby games. I've played Nightmare in Dreamland, Crystal Shards, and a little bit of Epic Yarn (not because I hated it, I don't own it, and I loved it). Other than that, I've played Amazing Mirror, and it stands out as my favorite. The puzzle-type world is new, the computers are actually kind of smart, and most of the boss battles are fun and quite challenging. Overall, a really good game.

Number 7 - Super Smash Bros. Brawl
If you ask me whether I prefer Melee or Brawl, it's Brawl, no doubt. Melee's physics may be a bit smoother, but Brawl's replay value and unlockable content make this game the best of the trio. You could play this game for weeks, maybe MONTHS and still have not unlocked every song, trophy, or sticker. The roster is quite large, and while this game does have its clones, it's still a unique decision at some points. But the one thing that makes Brawl my favorite fighter ever... is the Final Smashes. Most if not ALL of these attacks are unique, powerful, and awesome to look at. However, I do admit that the Subspace Emissary could have been better.

Number 6 - Kid Icarus: Uprising
Nintendo wasn't doing fantastic at the start of the 3DS's life, as we may know. But while 3D Land did sort of save it, this game was the game that made it a fantastic handheld. I love everything about the game. The gameplay is fluent and never seems slow, the music is masterful, the story is intriguing, and the characters. Oh my god, the characters. I will not kid you when I say this game has my overall favorite character cast. Just about every character in this game is lovable in some way, the best being Hades. Hades is at the moment my favorite villain. Overall, this is a phenomenal game, but the control scheme could be done MUCH better. But that doesn't excuse this game from being truly amazing. Or shall I say, "Hamazing."

Number 5 - Wario World
This game is, without a doubt, the craziest game I've played. The bosses are really strange, for one thing. But as sick and twisted as it is, it's fun.  The combat is fluent, responsive, and it's so satisfying to pummel a tough baddie into the ground. The music is a nice touch, too. My only complaint with Wario World is that it's too easy. But it definitely deserves a sequel, no doubt.

Number 4 - Sonic Colors
I was never one to despise the modern Sonic games. In fact, I loved most of them. Hell, I can even pick a few things from Sonic '06 that were pretty enjoyable. But it was this game. This ONE game. It brought my love for the Sonic franchise to an entirely new level, and it remains my favorite game of the franchise. I never hated the night stages in Unleashed, but they did get in the way of high-speed action, and this game fixed that. The switches between 3D and 2D always work well, and this game has some of my all-time favorite music tracks in the series, let alone gaming history itself. The Wisp powers were innovative and fun, and the level designs were WONDERFUL. I never grew up with the 2D Sonic games, but this game and a select few others made me love the franchise so much that it remains one of my favorites.

Number 3 - No More Heroes
Hoo boy. Where do I start with this game? Most M-Rated video games really turn me away, because they lack one thing a game needs. STYLE. While games like Team Fortress 2 and MadWorld definitely excel in style, No More Heroes takes the concept of a unique style of both graphics and gameplay, and revs it up to a freakin' thousand.  The graphics in this game would turn most other hardcore gamers away, but I feel like this game's graphics are some of the best on the Wii. The combat and boss battles, however, is what this game is known for. The gameplay works like a charm, and it can be truly addicting at points. It's truly SO satisfying when you behead a group of goons with one Death Blow. And the music? Awesome. The game's final boss theme and even the CREDITS have some of the best guitar I've heard. All in all, No More Heroes is a game to pick up if you're in the mood for some awesome hack-and-slash action.

Number 2 - Super Mario Sunshine
It surprised me, too, that the game to represent my favorite franchise is only at #2. But nevertheless, Super Mario Sunshine is undoubtedly my favorite Mario game ever. The game has one quality that has been present in Mario games beforehand, but this game took that quality like never before. Sunshine had charm. I cannot express how many times this game has made me smile over the years, whether it's the NPCs, graphics, music, or hell, even the enemies. The gameplay, the music, the level designs, just about all of this game is so uplifting and happy, yet so amazing at the same time. This is what a Mario game should be, and while I do adore alot of the Mario games after this (just about freaking all of them), this one game is the defining game of my favorite franchise. However, there is one game better.

Number 1 - The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
Oh, my god. I can not believe how much I freaking cherish this game. Without any doubt in my mind, I can easily call The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker my all-time favorite game. Everything, and I mean everything about this game is just about perfect. The gameplay? Fluent, responsive, and smooth. Combat? Fun, can be challenging, and satisfaction guaranteed. Music? My favorite game song EVER is from this game. Enough said. Everything else? Check. I know this is a bit stupid to say, but I mean it: I can truly find NOTHING wrong with this game. And THAT, ladies and mentlegen is why Wind Waker is my favorite video game ever.

Jeez, I went into full-blown detail there, didn't I?

Good sir, allow me to usurp that title. And Ms. Flameprincess, I have to thank you. I was going to do a topic like this, but I didn't want to look like I was ripping off Mr. Sgt. Fly.  I just wanna say that I don't like those games like Call of Duty and stuff like that. I'm not part of the 95% of people who are all: 'HOLYCRAPLETSGOSHOOTSTUFF'. I say that those games are overrated. Anyways,

10) The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
This game has just about everything. A decent storyline, a bucketload of secrets and collectables, and a talking hat. Who wouldn't want a talking hat? I'd never played it before the ambassador program on 3DS, and I'd say it's my second favorite.

9) Super Paper Mario
Good gobblewonkers. This story. Amazing. Best in a Mario game. I didn't really like the ditching of turn-based battles, but the overall story and air of the game overrode that.

8) Kirby and the Amazing Mirror
I love the amount of content in this game. So many secrets. Ever since I got this game, I STILL haven't found all of the treasures(it wasn't TOO recently, mind you).

7) Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective
Better story than SPM. I love visual novels, but this one tops them all. The concept of being a ghost and possessing different inanimate objects is awesome.

6) Pokemon White
Holy crap. I love this game(too bad I lost it). All of the Pokemon games have that special flair that makes me like them, but never as much as this one. If nothing else about this game appeals to you, I have three words: animated battle sprites. By the end of this list, you'll see that I'm a fan of games from a light-hearted series with darker storylines. This is one of them.

5) Pikmin 2
I know that the Pimin series only has two games, with a third on the way, but both of the games trounce many games easily. I personally favor this one. It doesn't have that annoying 30 day limit that the first one had, and it has some good music that suits the areas very well.

4) Earthbound
Ah, the rogue of Nintendo. Obscure in it's time and hard to find now, AND IT'S FLIPPING AWESOME. This game is like Paper Mario in the sense of it being a sword-less RPG, and it's basically comedy in a can. Just by talking to random NPCs, you can hear some of the funniest lines ever in a game. Also, the final boss is disturbing.

3) Super Mario Galaxy 2
As one of the three games I know of to get a perfect score, I think it deserves a good place. Not just that though, there's also a cool-to-explore hub, amazingly designed galaxies and music, and YOSHI!!

2) The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
This game will always hold a special place with me. When I first got it, I couldn't comprehend the meaning of the story, but now I do. The temple design really hit me how well-thought out they were, and I think that makes up for the lack of temples. I also find it interesting how they made the side quests so that if you want 100%, you have to come in contact with EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER.

1)Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
I know some people won't agree with this, but it the semi-dark storyline drew me in. I'm a huge fan of the Paper Mario series, and I really like this one. RPG battles, amazing music, diverse locations, this game has it all. If Super Paper Mario had RPG battles and regular partners, it would probably have this spot.

Thank you for listening to my spiel.

Dang it. I forgot to add Wind Waker, Kid Icarus Uprising, and SSBB.

For the record I would actually encourage topics that are reminiscent, or heck, even complete rip-offs of mine. I'd always find them interesting to read and they can be a good way of self-analyzing what really appeals to you in games.

You do realize i was being sarcastic right? Usually my top tens involve almost no nintendo games at all! Except for a select three, which usually always make it on. (Any pokemon game, Majora's Mask and Kirby's Return to Dreamland)

The talking hat was friggin irratating. Why does LoZ always need a bothersome sidekick?

Are you sure? Regarding the first part of the bold, i would got play Silver/Gold or the remakes of them and tell me if you still feel so. The other part: IMO i find the new sprites, (animated/seeing the entire back) only okay, i prefer the old style of doing it.
