After the success of the Donkey Kong arcade game, Shigeru Miyamoto decided to further develop the character Jumpman into Mario, an Italian plumber from Brooklyn, New York. He also gave Mario a younger brother of the same status, named Luigi. Together the Mario Bros. must rid the pipes of Shellcreepers, Sidesteppers, and various other harmful enemies. This is the first game to based solely around the Mario Bros.
